Who Are We?

We are educators, students, staff members, and graduates who are associated with Christian Brother schools and colleges in the United States. . We have been influenced by the Lasallian Social Justice Institute in El Paso, Texas, where we first became familiar with the work of Cristina Estrada and her El Buen Pastor project. While visiting Anapra, Mexico, we were confronted with the stark poverty there, yet heartened by Cristina’s work to educate every child in the impoverished colonia. Inspired by Cristina’s commitment and service to her community, we are dedicated to raise funds to:

♣	Provide scholarships to pay for children’s education,
♣	Purchase new equipment and learning resources for the educational center, and
♣	Meet other financial needs of the educational program.

We work in collaboration with an established non-profit organization, the Columban Fathers, thus avoiding the costs inherent in establishing and administering a non-profit organization. Thus 100% of all donations go directly to reduce the costs of education for the more that 250 children who are helped by El Buen Pastor.

Who are the Columbans?

The Columbans are an international society of priests, sisters, and lay missionaries serving in Asia and the Americas, primarily in third world countries. They are involved in projects throughout the world aimed at alleviating the roots of poverty and restoring human dignity to the disenfranchised. Today, more than 700 Columban priests, lay missionaries, and sisters can be found working in 15 countries. The Columbans has a parish in Anapra and have been major fundraisers for El Buen Pastor.

In choosing to operate under the umbrella of the Columban Fathers, we have avoided the costs inherent in establishing and administrating a non-profit organization. That decision was made so that we could devote all of our energies to supporting the El Buen Pastor Project and the children of Anapra, Mexico.
